…the film that was inspired by this book (and I say “inspired” not “based on” because they have very little in common other than saying yes) and I can wholeheartedly say that it’s absolutely worth reading. Some of the things he says yes to are quite ordinary and mundane, others unexpected, and some just plain silly (and with the tongue-in-cheek humour Wallace uses he appears to be well aware that they are). All situations lead to something though no matter how small, even such as saying yes to going for a drink with a friend. Our author is in a slump at the beginning of this book and the yes experiment undoubtably brings him out of it, often for the better (but not always as you will read). At any rate by the end he feels undoubtably changed and we have been rewarded with an uplifting story that despite the odd humour also manages to be surprisingly touching. A definite feel-good read.
