Thriller
It feels almost sacrilege to give this book a score of 3 given how it spread like wildfire but here we are. Without any big spoilers, the story starts with the disappearance of Amy, the wife of Nick who soon falls under suspicion of her murder. As the story progresses we find out more of Amy and Nick’s past together and various twists and turns and revelations lead us to…
…realise that we don’t quite know as much as we thought we did. The character creation is excellent, I feel this is the strength of the book. Nick and Amy both seem quite believable in a chilling sort of way and together they both help to shape how the story pans out. The supporting characters also help to augment the richness of the story. The story itself is…well, it has a very large twist that I won’t get into. You might see it coming or you might not. It’s an interesting one anyway. Unfortunately apart from that the rest of the story doesn’t seem to have much that raises it apart from other thriller stories. I understand I must be in the minority here – this book was an international best seller and is highly rated by many. I add this in here lest my review put you off – you might find you enjoy this book a lot more when you read it as it appears so many others did.
